Comcolor has been serving the greater Northeast for over 16 years as a leading edge provider of services to graphic designers, industry leaders, photographers, and other design professionals. Located in a brand new facility in Springfield, MA, Comcolor has a client list that includes some of the largest organizations in the Pioneer Valley.
When the annual MA Business to Business Trade Show rolled around this past spring, Comcolor was faced with the quandary of displaying the array of their work in one small booth. With only 6 weeks remaining before the show, they identified the need for a website that would showcase their entire portfolio - not only at the show, but whenever or wherever potential clients may exist.
Comcolor came to Tortus because they needed a functional website - and they needed it fast. Although the Tortus development process usually takes about 90 days from the first in-house meeting, we immediately understood how critical the new website would be towards the success of the show and rolled up our sleeves.
On top of a rigid timeline, Comcolor also requested to continue their ongoing partnership with a local advertising agency. Tortus' designers were able to bring the agency's print designs and current branding to life by re-creating the designs using web best practices. Although print and web design techniques are actually very different, Comcolor received the look that they wanted while still abiding by accessibility regulations.
Using Tortus' project management tools, all 3 parties worked together to publish a purposeful website with time to spare. Now that the business show has come and gone, Comcolor is returning to the project to re-evaluate how their web strategy will fit into their overall business model. Because Tortus moves at the Clients speed, we were able to accelerate phase 1 of the project in time for the show and then delay phase 2 based on Comcolor's needs.
All in all, the success of Comcolor.net was measured by our natural collaboration with their design agency and our ability to meet tight deadlines. In fact, when we asked Comcolor's VP of Marketing how we could of improved his experience, his only response was "Not charge for the service" Thanks, we'll keep that in mind...
