The Client

DWP Carpet Binding, LLC (Done With Precision) is a Connecticut carpet binding service company who specialize in a number of binding styles and also sell a variety of other products. Their binding services include serging, fringing, binding, sisal binding, seaming, cutting, hand binding and rug repairs. DWP uses carpet remnants to create custom rugs, stair treds and their unique Puppy Place Mats. They also sell carpet remnants, carpet cleaning products, rug hold products, adhesives, tapes, blades and carpet staples. They do a quick job and welcome walk-ins to their shop. Located in South Windsor, Connecticut, DWP makes a great resource for installers and mechanics in need of carpet binding and cutting services.

The Challenge

DWP Carpet Binding wanted to have a site that is easy to use, attractive, elegant and informative. Their branding colors are red, white and blue, which they wanted to incorporate into the site design. Being DWP's first web site, they wanted to be able to draw more business to their store through a web prescence. The site was to include information about their binding services, an area about their business, and showcase custom rug projects they have created. The client also wanted to be able to edit information themselves by use of a Content Management System (CMS) to update information as they need to. An area to be able to contact their business by email, phone, and location was also requested.

The Result

Tortus designed a website for DWP Carpet Binding which allows them to showcase their services and custom designs and allows the user to easily contact them. With contact information placed in the layout of every page, it is easy for anyone to know how to reach them. An email contact form on the Contact Us page allows users to email without the risk of DWP receiving junk messages from spam bots picking up their email address online.

Incorporating the red, white and blue colors, Tortus created a design that was both elegant and functional. As a unique touch the content frame was designed to reflect the style of sisal binding which DWP uses on many of their rugs. The navigation and call-out areas on the left side of the template also have a subtle texture of carpeting in the background to reflect their use of carpet remnants. By use of CSS, the navigation design is still graphical and unique without compromising searchability in search engines.

The Content Management System was built to allow DWP to edit the text and images on every page of their site. They can easily update information and add new images of their most recent rug and binding projects. The call-out below the navigation is also connected to the CMS so that the client may change the image and the page it is linked to as they please.
