Flag Fables sells a wide variety of high-quality decorative flags, flagpoles, mailbox covers, and other appealing yard accessories. With a thriving e-commerce website and a successful retail location in West Springfield, Mass., Flag Fables has now entered its 25th year in business.

Flag Fables approached Tortus to create an updated, faster e-commerce system that would be easier for customers to use. Because of the high volume of business conducted on the site, a redesign was necessary to make the site more secure, easier for users to follow through to checkout, and a more pleasant shopping experience overall.

Tortus improved the Flag Fables website with many new features, including the implementation of Authorize.net for the shopping cart credit card system, allowing users to shop securely. The redesign enabled the site to load rapidly, while the new navigation provided a more straightforward, visually oriented approach to shopping. With an upgraded content management system using Ruby On Rails, the client now has greater flexibility when updating the home page and product catalog. Increased text content on the new site also makes for better search engine results. The website maintains all of the positive features of the old site, while providing new features that enhance its usability for both the client and site visitors.

Flag Fables also wanted to grow their business by highlighting their products in an email marketing campaign aimed at both new and existing customers. In particular, the client sought a solution that would allow them to update the content (images and text) in the email and send out blasts on their schedule.

Tortus recently designed a broadcast email design for Flag Fables that enables them to highlight three product selections along with a special announcement. With Mercury, Tortus' web-based broadcast email software, clients can upload their own photos, change text, create links, and send out emails to specialized lists, at any time.
