Manny's TV & Appliance Center

Manny’s TV & Appliance Center is a locally owned, quality home appliance retailer with store locations throughout Massachusetts.  In 2008 they opened a mega store in West Springfield, MA, which also features a storefront for their partnership with T-Mobile. Manny Rovithis has owned and operated the business since 1977.

To supplement their new brick and mortar location, Manny’s looked to open a virtual store to increase sales walk-in sales, descrease overhead costs, and reach a whole new audience outside of Western Mass.

Using the Ruby on Rails programming code, we integrated with Manny’s point of sale (POS) system to move their inventory to the web. All products featured on the website are automatically pulled from an external database that Manny's manages using a web-based import. This saves time and effort for Manny's TV & Appliance Center, as their product data uploads to the website at set intervals during the day. With a Content Management System (CMS), Manny’s can cost-effectively manage their online inventory and specials and continually add news and latest product information videos.

Tortus worked with Manny's TV & Appliance Center to create consumer friendly categories that would allow visitors to browse the site - without getting overwhelmed. Within individual categories, shoppers expressed the desire to narrow their choices by searching by EnergyStar products, types of rebates, subcategories, or by specific price groups. These choices make it easier for Manny's TV & Appliance Center customers to find exactly what they are looking for as quickly as possible, thus ensuring a simple shopping experience and increasing the likelyhood of purchasing their appliances online.

As part of the re-design, Tortus worked with Manny's to offer their online customers a complete shopping experience, updating the Manny's site with product information such as color chips, multiple views of each product, and recommended items and rebates (offered by both Manny's TV & Appliance Center and the manufacturer). The new ecommerce website features customer accounts, which saves repeat customer's billing and shipping addresses - encouraging repeat business. With a lost password reminder, new promotional code functionality and the ability for a customer to ship an order to multiple addresses, Manny's can continue to provide the customer service they are known for. Since Manny's original website increased foot traffic into their store locations, Tortus added a pick-up-in-store option for Manny's customers who'd rather visit the store and experience the customer service first-hand. 

All of these new features have resulted in a more robust online shopping experience, which in turn has raised the number of shopper-to-buyer conversions on the Manny's TV & Appliance Center website. Contact Tortus today to find out how we can work together to grow your business!
