The Client

The Seventh Prism is a unique program developed by Dr. Neil Yeager to help business people and people who are engrossed in a daily work schedule to relax, find inner reflection and peace. His program uses workshops, reading, counseling sessions and retreats as a way to bring confidence, self-empowerment and inner knowledge to people. Using "prisms" to focus on the facets of life, Dr. Yeager's programs bring a unique perspective to all of the parts of life that people experience daily.

The Seventh Prism was a unique, yet welcome project for Tortus. Dr. Neil Yeager hired artist and designer Adell Donaghue to be in charge of all things visual for his new project. Adell came to Tortus in search of a web developer to turn her design into a working site. The end result was a beautiful and peaceful, yet functional site.

The Challenge

Adell came to Tortus with a design which needed to be further developed into a functioning website. The challenge for the Tortus designers was to take a Photoshop document and turn it into a CSS and XHTML design that both stayed true to the original design and functioned with best practice standards. Adell and Tortus worked closely together to transform her original mock-up into a site that was both easy-to-use and kept the open-air and fluid feeling of Adell's original design.

Tortus' programmers had the challenge of building a back-end system that would function with the unique design that Adell presented. The template is custom, since each page has a different scenic background, which programming then had to make function in conjunction with the dynamic Ruby on Rails framework.

The Result

Tortus and Adell Donaghue created together an easy-to-use site with an appealing design. Adell's design matches all of the other marketing materials for The Seventh Prism, creating a cohesive identity for Dr. Yeager. Tortus' knowledge in accessibility and functionality helped to create a well-organized site with a modern structure. Tortus' designers were able to take an outside design and transform it into a sleek CSS based site that still retained the original designer's ideas and goals. The project between Tortus and Adell resulted in Dr. Yeager being pleased with the look of the site, as well as the great teamwork that went into it. The Seventh Prism's site allows Dr. Yeager the ability to add new workshops to the calendar and helps provide information about his services and programs to current and prospective clients from MA, CT and beyond.
