Alexander Solzhenitsyn

Alexander Solzhenitsyn, the famous Cold War dissident, writer, and historian who received a Nobel Prize in literature, was Cavendish, Vermont's other famous resident. He returned to Russia in 1994 after spending 18 year living in Cavendish, and he died at 89 years of age in Moscow in 2008.
