"To be custom, or not to be custom" that is the question.

Should I build a wonderful custom open source solution or should I just use Microsoft products?

Here's some breaking news for you to consider. When making a decision between open source and custom development, versus the Microsoft suite of products, you should pay close attention to this quote from the Microsoft website regarding Frontpage.

" Dear Valued Customer,

After nine years of being an award-winning authoring tool, Frontpage will be discontinued in late 2007. We will continue to serve the diverse needs of our Frontpage customers with the introduction of these three brand-new application building and web authoring tools using the latest technologies, Microsoft Office SharePoint Designer 2007 for the enterprise information workers, Microsoft Expression Web for the professional web designer and Microsoft Visual 2005 for the web developer."

Frontpage was an HTML website editor and administration tool from Microsoft for the Windows operating system. Many of you reading this may be using Frontpage, be advised that beginning January 2008 this product will not be supported! This means if you're using Frontpage you'll have to buy another solution from Microsoft or go open source. Click on the following link to get more information about this recent announcement.

There are 4 good reasons for scalable open source custom website integration, and portal development.

  1.   One, it's less expensive
  2.   Two, it's more stable
  3.   Three, it's more secure
  4.   Four, you won't have to deal with FrontPage type dilemnas.

If you need help contact Tortus today, and we'll help you keep your website up and running!
