Think Tank Seminar, Part 4

The seminar ended with a look forward. “The question is: what’s the next big thing?” Moore asked. “The last big thing was the Internet. It was a tool, and now it’s the tool. The next big thing I see out there is efficiency.” Knapp concurs that businesses should be asking themselves, “How can we do more, with less people, through technology?”

Another “big thing” on the horizon? Going greener. Janes argues that “this country has to take advantage of its brain and muscle power to work on green technologies.”  Dianne Fuller Doherty added, “Cleaner technologies are the next big thing. There was IT, and now there’s ET--environmental technology. What can we do to retain the tremendous quality of life that we have here?”

“The tone of this year’s Think Tank discussion was decidedly different,” Moore noted. “What struck me most was the more global perspective by the attendees. I was tremendously impressed with the thoughtfulness of the discussion.”
