As Tortus Account Manager Clarke Moore, who invented the title, explains, " We've always told clients that when you develop a web project, you're really opening up a new location on the web. Since we're about developing businesses on the web, we've gotten rid of the brick (the physical) and replaced it with the pixel (Internet technology)."

It took 35 years from conception until it was financed and approved, and another 35 years to complete. The cost was an estimated 138 billion dollars. In reality, this project will never be completed. It has radically altered our behavior, our economy, and our lifestyles. We Americans lived without it until 1956, but none of us could imagine life without it today.
Are we talking about the Internet or the web? We are not. This amazing creation is the U.S. Interstate Highway System. Truly a technological wonder!
Almost all of the goods sold or consumed in the U.S. travel over the interstate at one point or another. If you’ve ever traveled more than a few dozen miles from home, chances are you’ve used it, and many of us drive on it every day. The Interstate system was conceived by the military in 1921 when the Army approached the Bureau of Public Roads with a request for a list of roads considered important for national defense. And as Americans bought more and more “horse-less carriages”, federal government planners envisioned the need for a national super highway system to supplement the existing numbered highway system.
