Spring has sprung. The crocuses have come and gone, the daffodils now reign, and soon it'll be tulips! What do tulips and housing have in common?

With the rise and bust of the real estate bubble, most of us now know what it means to "flip" a house. You buy a house, pretty it up with cosmetic improvements, and sell it for a tidy profit in a smoking hot seller's market in which mortgages come easy and everyone wants in on the profit.

Homeownership is a concept dear to many in the United States, evoking images of the American dream: white picket fences, manicured lawns, and quality time by the barbecue with friends and family. Real estate has a certain allure in times of frenetic economic growth. But why just houses and land? Why not race horses, Google Stock, or...tulips?  

In a bizarre turn of events from 1630-1637, tulips actually turned the Dutch economy upside down. Why? We all believe home ownership is part of the American's dream. Well, the Dutch had their own dreams of wealth: tulip bulbs. Read more here.

The Hotel Northampton Has a New Website!

The historic Hotel Northampton is an inn of Colonial charm that was built in 1927 and reflects founder Lewis Wiggins's love for Colonial Revival style and antique furnishings. The Hotel's famous restaurant, Wiggins Tavern, was originally established in 1786 in Hopkinton, New Hampshire and and was moved  and reassembled on the site of the Hotel in 1930.
