Increasingly, E-commerce is being influenced by a trend called ‘behavioral targeting’ or ‘dynamic delivery,’ among other terms. In short, it refers to various programs currently being developed and applied all over the World Wide Web, and paired with any number of marketing practices to better serve customers online, by showing them what types of products they might want to purchase based on their online habits.
Shawn Toohey, an account manager with Web site design and development company Tortus Technologies in West Springfield said such practices are helping E-commerce grow in general, by expanding the earning capabilities of online retailers and Web sites of all kinds.
“It’s not enough anymore to have a catalog Web site,” he said. “E-commerce is a dynamic, constantly changing thing, and there are tons of different ways a company can make it work. It is much more complex, yes, but it’s also a call to action.”
